Sample cover letter for Internship position at Suncorp

I am writing to apply for a summer internship position in the Business Technology Division through the 2015 Suncorp Group Vacation Program. I am an international student currently in my final semester of a Bachelor of Software Engineering at Monash University. I have a strong background in application development, where I hope to put my interests and learning into practice.

I would be fortunate to work for Suncorp, one of Australia and New Zealand’s leading insurance and banking brands. The company’s emphasis on their corporate values - Trust, Honesty, Courage, Caring, Respect , Fairness - are values which I believe are essential for engendering trust and long-term client relationships. I am attracted by the opportunity to work on meaningful projects, delivering value-added solutions to enterprise grade clients.

My current role as a Junior Web Designer at Pegboard Digitals involves me working with my colleagues to design and develop the user-interface of a web application. I have to utilise my knowledge in HTML, CSS and JavaScript which I have learnt through certain modules in university and my earlier internships. I also volunteer at Wholefoods where I have learnt to work and interact with a wide range of people and at different levels as well be it customers, peers or authority. Through these work and volunteering experiences, I have been in positions of both leader and subordinate, and have an understanding of what is expected from each role.
