Sample cover letter for Internship position at UBISOFT
Programmer
GOT THE JOB? Yes
As a potential computer science graduate from the prestigious University of British Columbia, having
experience of working as a Junior Programmer at a games studio, a background in Audio Engineering,
and a passion for video games, I am confident that I possess the essential skills required for a
programmer position at Ubisoft.
My Co-op work term as a Junior Programmer at Radical Entertainment (Activision Game Studio) in
Vancouver BC, was a great learning experience and involved software development, support and
maintenance of audio tools. I single handedly designed and implemented an innovative dialog
sequence playback system from scratch and a set of new root mean square (RMS) sound meters. These
features help the sound designers take better decisions with regard to game sound levels and dialog
sequences. In addition to this, I worked as an Assistant Recording Engineer at Sangeet Audio Visual,
which is a Bollywood music production facility based in Mumbai, India. There I assisted in the music
recording, editing and mixing of two Bollywood movie projects, as well as integrated creative
compositional snippets into several soundtracks.
I also got the opportunity to work as a Project Manager Intern at Amba Hospital, India, where I
communicated with the employees to gather user requirements, wrote software requirement
specifications (SRS), prioritized & assigned tasks, analyzed problems, initiated creative solutions, and
completed the project on time and within budget. This new system has reduced approximately 30% of
the hospital’s front desk’s operating costs.
Through my studies at UBC and Acadia University, I have gained a good grasp of software
development with C, C++, VC++ and Java, and also a strong background in audio and music
technology. In reviewing my enclosed resume you will find that my coursework is reinforced with
leadership roles such as being elected as the Events Coordinator of UBC-Utsav social club, and varied
extra-curricular activities such as music and golf. In 2007, I received an offer of scholarship ($5000)
by the world renowned Berklee College of Music for my violin performance. Furthermore, having
visited several countries and friends from diverse cultures and walks of life, I have developed
strength to do well in any environment and at the same time bring a refreshing variety to the table.
