Application for an internship position at “UBS”: Coverage and Advisory (CSS)
To whom it may concern,
As a highly motivated graduate student who plans to finish his master studies in June 2017 and who is determined to start in the mergers and acquisitions sector, I was immediately resolute to apply for the possibility to do an internship program for one of the leading investment banks in the world. I do believe that working within the corporate advisory sector for a top-ranking investment bank such as “UBS” would be an ideal environment for me to make a full use of my knowledge and work experience. Therefore I like to apply for a position in the internship program, starting in June 2017.
In the last few years the field of corporate finance has mesmerized me. The possibility to both analyse financial statements, business operations and valuation processes as well as to develop complex financial strategies and implement those strategies at an executive level veraciously fascinate me. I would appreciate working on these challenges with a highly motivated and goal-orientated team in order to enhance my personal skill set and to deliver high quality results to all clients.
The traditional principles and strong work ethics of UBS, its long track record and specific market know how have led UBS to not only be one of the leading banks in Switzerland but also to be one of the best and most innovative investment banks of the world. The overall global presence and revolutionary vision to adapt to a fast living and steadily changing environment, in combination with its strong work ethics and its commitment for innovation are exactly the values that attract me to UBS.
During my Bachelor studies in Business Administration at the University Fresenius Hamburg I proved my ability to perform under pressure by taking an optional third major in “Retail Banking”, graduating under the highest 10% and simultaneously working for the faculty of finance and accounting as a student research assistant. Additionally I worked voluntary as a tutor for accounting (local GAAP, as well as IFRS) and management accounting related courses. This combined experience not only prepared me for dealing with tremendously stressful situations and deadlines but also gave me invaluable knowledge of accounting and finance principles essential to be successful in such a demanding business environment. Furthermore, in order to enhance my knowledge about capital markets, I decided to take further university related courses at the University of Utrecht about portfolio management and behavioural finance.
After completing my Bachelor studies I had the opportunity to put my theoretical knowledge into practice during my internship at KPMGs Deal Advisory line (formerly known as Transaction Services). Through participation in due diligence and valuation processes, I significantly broadened my general accounting knowledge and understanding of financial information. As recognition for my excellent work I have been offered a place at KPMG’s selective “HighQ” programme for future leaders as well as a full time analyst position. Besides my academic career, I am convinced that my intercultural experience, which I have gained on various travels around the world, as well as my experience in a broad range of sports has created awareness for strong team values.
I hope that, on consideration of my attached CV, you will feel that I have the skills and experience to succeed in your internship program and become a valued member of UBS.
I very much look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully
