Sample cover letter for Internship position at US Bank
Capital Markets intern
It is with great enthusiasm that I submit my application as a Capital Markets intern with US Bank. As a rising senior at St. Olaf College with a liberal arts background and internships in marketing, B2B sales, and private equity, I would enjoy the opportunity to leverage my diverse business experience and creative thinking skills to resolve complex financial problems for US Bank.
Given my internship and athletic background as a collegiate wrestler, I thrive in fast-paced environments that require me to work both individually and in team-oriented environments. This past fall I was a part-time research intern for a venture capital firm while maintaining a 3.34 GPA and balancing varsity athletics that required me to commit 25 hours per week. As an intern with Anthos Capital, I independently sourced and analyzed private firms with high revenue growth and minimal capital funding and reported my research to associate investors. Furthermore, I conducted due diligence on firms that were not required to disclose financial statements. This required me to organize detailed industry analyses, conduct research on revenue models, and observe intangible assets to estimate valuations and determine investment suitability for the company portfolio. This experience helped me realize my passion for working in an entrepreneurial atmosphere and taught me to take a holistic approach to solve client needs.
My other internships have also helped me gain a deeper understanding of the many facets of business beyond my course work in economics and accounting.Over the past two summers I familiarized myself with marketing research and B2B sales.Interning with an NGO afforded me the opportunity to create marketing and budget plans to support the lobbying of new legislation and honed my business writing skills by assisting with grant proposals. Finally, my experience in direct sales required me to secure and gain the trust of new clients with limited face time.In response to this challenge, I honed my sales pitch and learned to quickly establish relationships with new clients to gain their business. Eventually, I sharpened my presentation skills to meet the 3-client acquisition benchmark for a promotion.
In closing, I am thrilled with the possibility of interning US Bank, and would relish the opportunity to discuss my qualifications via email at ------ or cellphphone ------.Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to hearing from US Bank.
