Sample cover letter for Internship position at US Steel

POSITION:

Procurement Intern

Pittsburgh, PA, 15219

To Whom It May Concern:

The position I am applying for is the U.S. Steel Procurement Summer Internship. My name is Blank and I am a Rising Junior at the University of Pittsburgh. I am currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Supply Chain Management. After school I hope to pursue a career in consulting with aspirations to eventually become a procurement consultant at a big firm.

As you will see from my attached resume, I strive to take advantage of all the opportunities presented to me. This semester I have refined my organizational capabilities through balancing my many leadership roles and strenuous coursework.

  • Communication Skills – As a Resident Assistant, I communicate daily with a group of 20 students through email, social media and face-to-face conversations.
  • Negotiation Skills – As the Vice President of Beta Theta Pi, I have acted as a Liaison with hotels and restaurants to set up large events comprised of 100-200 attendees
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite Office – As a Quantitative Methods Teaching Assistant, I teach the basics of Excel. I use with Solver to solve optimization problems, and have an understanding of macros and VBA.
  • Organized/Time Sensitive – As a full time student taking 18 credits, and leading a floor, class, and organization I have perfected the art of balancing grades and extracurricular activities.

U.S. Steel has a culture of safety, focusing on the customer, and accountability that I feel I would fit into. As an RA, it is my job to protect my students, while also holding them accountable for their actions. If a student is making decisions that would poorly represent our floor community, I sit down and speak with them. As Vice President of my fraternity, it is my job to focus on the happiness of the brotherhood as a whole. Overall, my experiences lead me to believe that I would be a valuable asset and I am excited for the opportunity to learn from the full-time employees at U.S. Steel.

Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to having the opportunity to interview with you. I am available by phone at (555) 555-5555.

Sincerely,

Blank
