These are some key words in the advertisement published in the United Nations job portal on June 9, 2016. With regard to the aforesaid advertisement, I deem myself as a suitable candidate for the position of Finance and Budget Officer (P-3) in United Nations Environment Programme’s section of Management and Administrative Section.
I have started my career as a finance and accounts officer and already procured enough expertise in investment and fund management area. My core responsibilities include among others fund management for company and its regional offices for short term and long term period, annual budget preparation for the company and its regional offices, variance analysis between approved budget and actual expenditures, fund management of international development partners i.e. World Bank, KFW, JICA, ADB, USAID, GIZ, DFID, budget implementation and monitoring and preparation of financial statements and reports. My current organization also has entrusted me with some other responsibilities which are crucial for the organization. I successfully achieved those and my achievements include implementation of company investment software module, implementation of software for efficient and timely fund management of regional offices, integration of software modules with the core management information system (MIS), automation in generating various reports and financial statements.
In my concentrated curriculum at the university, I studied finance with a specialization in investment analysis, portfolio management, risk management, business finance and management accounting. This education background has definitely given me a firm and solid foundation and stimulated my ability to be analytical and creative in working for you. I also completed knowledge and skill level of ACCA. This global accountancy qualification increases my exposure to cross-sector knowledge and different ways of thinking.
Moreover my current and fellow colleagues extol me much for my perseverance for achieving targets, ownership of responsibilities and positive attitude towards team work. My excellent writing and speaking ability in both English and Bengali and minimal working knowledge in French will give me a competitive edge.
