Dear Ms.Kapai,
I am writing this to submit my application for the Assistant Research Officer position at the Center for Comparative and Public Law (CCPL), Law Faculty University of Hong King, as advertised on the Center’s website.
I have found the research themes of the Center, deeply interesting for me. Your need for an Assistant Research Officer is a close fit with my academic background and future aims. I developed my interest in the subject of International Law and Constitutional Law during LL.B studies. I was further motivated to explore the subject during my teaching position and while I undertook the BCL program at University of Oxford. During my BCL program, I focused on Public International Law and Constitutional Theory. My interest helped me secure Upper Second Class Honours in both courses. At Punjab University Law College, I spearheaded the initiative of establishment of the Society of International Law and organized seminars initiating debates on different questions of International Law. Last month, I contributed in formulation of the Initial State Report after ratification of United Nations Convention against Torture, to be presented by the Government of Pakistan at the UN Committee later this year. I also studied the subject of Comparative Constitutional Law during my LL.M and wrote on various Constitutional Issues in Pakistan.
The position of Assistant Research Officer will allow me an opportunity to engage with the specific areas identified by the CIL, at a deeper level and explore unchartered corners. My experience in the Civil Service has helped me to get an insight into practical aspects involved in the implementation of law in different contexts. The practical experience combined with sound academic grounding will help me contribute effectively to the research efforts being undertaken at the Center for Comparative and Public Law.
