Dear Varian Medical Systems Recruitment Team,

I am writing to express my interest in the Software Intern position. I found this position after viewing the Varian Medical Systems careers page, and found that it best fit my interests and skills. I will be graduating in May 2017 from the California State University Chico, with a BS in MIS and Finance.

Growing up in a technologically savvy household, working for a medical technology company has always been a strong interest of mine. I also have a passion for the analysis of numbers and information, and being able to work them to my advantage. An example of this is how I created a situational ERP system for my Enterprise Resource Planning class, which I spent many hours perfecting. Overall, these two passions led me to choose MIS and Finance as my majors. I felt that these two majors together provided a strong technical background along with a deep understanding of business processes, cash flows, and analytics.

As for my professional experience, during summer of 2015 I worked at Nevin and Witt Insurance doing marketing and sales for their products. I conducted research on the local and used this in order to sell to life and health insurance products. In addition, I am the Student Board Vice President for SAGE Global Non-Profit since April 2015, which I am able to apply what I have learned in school in a professional setting. During my time in this position I helped consult and advise teen entrepreneurs to help build and expand their companies, prepare teenage students to complete in a National and International business competitions, and lead all on campus recruitment and public representation for the organization.

I believe that my strongest asset is my ability to work with people. I have very strong social intelligence and can get along with anyone; I also actually enjoy public speaking. With Varian Medical Systems at the pinnacle of innovation, it would be an extremely exciting and rewarding place to work at. I know I would be able to “excel” in this job by combining my school knowledge, professional experiences, and my people skills. That said. I am very interested in the Software Intern position, and hope I have been able to show you why I am a perfect fit.

Sincerely,

Ryan O’Hair
