I am writing to express my keen interest in applying to the position of Intern – Business Analyst, as posted on LinkedIn. I have completed my undergraduate education in Information Technology and I am currently a first year graduate student majoring in Management at the Syracuse University School of Information Studies.
My academic achievements along with my work experiences and active co-curricular participation in college clubs and sports have all helped me to develop strong analytical and problem-solving skills and have further developed my ability to work independently as well as a successful member of the team. My ability to work well with others can also be attributed to my strong communication and interpersonal skills which helped me greatly during my tenure as a Performing Arts Head in Cultural committee of my undergraduate institution wherein I coordinated my team, delegated tasks and organized 15 large-scale successful cultural events consisting of more than 300 students. I have also exercised my leadership skills while working on various research and technical papers in international conferences by coordinating my team and delivering powerful presentations. Last summer, I interned at Reliance Industries Ltd, India wherein I was exposed to big data with a hands on experience with Hadoop, HDFS, MapReduce and related technologies. I independently developed a program for parsing Apache web logs consisting of 10,000 records using HDFS & MapReduce and analyzed, extracted essential KPI’s from web logs using HiveQL & performed data visualization in MS Excel. I have found out that my intuitive thinking and logistics are quite inherent and have augmented even more with my graduate pursuit.
