Sample cover letter for Full Time position at asset management
graduate associate
Dear Sir
My name is (blank); I am a Student of the University of (Blank) studying (blank). I am writing in connection to the 2016 graduate investment associate opportunities you are advertising on your website.
I feel that both my studies and the extra curricular activities I have been involved in have allowed me to develop the skills and qualities required of a Graduate Investment Associate with the firm. I have a serious interest in working within a financial firm with both a distinct investment approach and business culture. With the number of private clients currently numbering 4000, totaling £6 billion in assets under management and your 8.5% Trust return this year in comparison to (blank) return of just 5.1%, as an institution your firm performs very impressively in the market. This reputation is one that anyone should be proud to be a part of.
Following my second year of study I was proactive in seeking out work experience opportunities to both complement and focus my lecture based learning through the year. Most notably I spent time with (blank), where I dealt directly with new and potential clients. Throughout this experience of promoting their pension scheme, communicating with clients and developing knowledge on equity and debt markets, I developed pragmatic communication skills and quickly became an efficient and valued member of the team.
In addition to my University studies and work experience, I have become involved with a number of projects with both University Societies and Local Government. Most notably, this year I have successfully formed a professional partnership and extended sponsorship between (blank) and the University’s hockey team for which I play. Furthermore I am currently completing a voluntary confidential project, on behalf of the University, for (blank), this is allowing me to hone my leadership skills and my ability to recognise, develop and exploit team synergy whilst developing my knowledge on consultation. My curiosity and appetite to partake in many opportunities has hugely improved my proficiency in time management.
I believe that I would be well suited to your investment associate role: I understand it to be a dynamic and engaged role that requires energetic and efficient individuals, those who are constantly curious to know more. Please find résumé enclosed which will provide you with greater details of my background, skills and relevant experience. I would be delighted to discuss my application further at interview and I have included my contact details below.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Yours sincerely,
(blank)
