I first learned of operational excellence and it’s importance at TOTAL Summer School (TSS), Paris, 2014. This sowed in me a curiosity of understanding the factors that affect the oil and gas industry which turned me to Bain & Company’s various articles about operational excellence and eventually to big data analytics in oil and gas industry. Inspired, I wish to apply for the position of an Associate Consultant at Bain & Company.
I hold a masters in Exploration Geophysics from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur with a special focus on fault extraction using Seismic Attributes. I have extensive knowledge of seismic prospecting, machine learning and data management practices, as well as highly developed quantitative and modelling skills. Through a practical case study during TSS I examined the arguments behind a smooth setting up and functioning of a new upstream branch in a relatively remote country.
My professional experiences include a summer internship at Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd., where I studied in detail seismic interpretation using different attributes and also at University of Turku, Finland where I surveyed the magnetic response of a mineral fertile area in the Svecofennian belt. I also received an opportunity to be the only student selected to represent my university at TOTAL Summer School, Paris and to learn and discuss about the various economic, geopolitical, environmental, social and managerial challenges being faced in the energy industry today.
My interest in analytics and information technology led me to take up a job with Crayon Data as a data miner where I learnt about the state of art techniques of big data processing and interpretation and got an opportunity to make a stronger base as a consultant.
With my quantitative training, professional and global experience, relevant course work and creative problem solving skills, I am confident in excelling in the position of an associate at Bain & Company.
