POSITION:

analyst

I hope you’re doing well! I write to express my interest in the above position. With problem-solving experience in the areas like technology commercialization, service management and product development; and an education that marries technology, design and management—I believe my hybrid profile is highly suited across ---------. To build my case for this, I’d like to elaborate on three key aspects of my personal value proposition.

Firstly, I already offer a track record of successes as a generalist—driven by a natural openness to experience and a cultivated taste for cognitive activity that engage multiple knowledge areas. As a consulting-related example, let me indulge you in what I now call “A Tale Of Two Frameworks”: I worked for an office of Qatar Foundation that provides strategy consulting services to partner organizations doing cutting-edge technology research. On one of the engagements, the team faced issues in developing a coherent analysis of a client’s invention: this particular ethylene manufacturing technology operated on a completely opposite scientific phenomenon than any active market competitor; and a (senior) teammate’s attempts to perform a comparison by our conventional approach, couldn’t converge onto an exhaustive set of criteria that could be applied across different competitor groups straightaway. In this situation I helped to advance the research by crafting two technology-agnostic, but context-specific analytical frameworks that delivered threefold benefits—mapping out the collective industry space; integrating a common set of business and technological outcomes into one single picture; and a common language to speak when interviewing subject matter experts or analyzing industry/scientific literature. So, how does the least experienced analyst on the team (and a non- engineer) score on the spot buy-ins on his proposed approach? I sensed that there had to be a better of doing things and then I acted upon my thesis like a designer—from articulating the “problem” with the current “problem solving” process (ironically), to exploring alternatives, and integrating micro-solutions into the bigger picture through testing and refinement—and materialized an artifact that did the job better. Looking back, I never started with a framework in mind—I was “designing” a quick win!

Secondly, I bring proven ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of audience. As an Experience Designer and Project Manager for one of Qatar’s premier healthcare facilities, I’m currently directing the development of two (digital) communication-platforms and serve as the gatekeeper of information between 4 – 5 disconnected stakeholder groups with differing interests and incompatible vocabularies. Besides orchestrating the process of transforming unstructured, high-level requirements from 7 – 8 different perspectives into products with over 300+ use cases—I’ve been able to go above and beyond my role by steering the overall product strategy in the unavailability of coherent and timely direction on emergent issues. Through activities like validating basic assumptions through socratic questioning, and reconstructing detailed product simulations to seek out potential problems in early stages—I have contributed cost savings in the range of thousands of dollars (estimated relative to budget) coming mainly from effective prioritization of features and reduced rework in the later stages. As you’ll see from my resume, I was no “product guru” coming into this job. The results I’ve delivered are a “product” (no pun intended) of extensive communication and continuous learning which is involved in defining and solving problems from first principles.

Finally, if you consider a few recent examples from my history of consistently “punching above my weight”— that kid with humble credentials from a no-name school, who convinces Carnegie Mellon to give him a chance; the candidate who enters a competitive innovation-symposium without a working prototype, and still scores a top-3 award on the ability to sell the merit of the concept; or the maverick participant who wins 1st place in a 2- round international-level case competition, without a team and or formal mentoring (entering last minute)—I hope you’ll reckon with my passion for seeking worthwhile challenges and deliver results even under extreme conditions. Because leaving all this behind, your company interests me as a platform where I can continue to “better” my best through work that’s actually meaningful to a much larger audience. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for considering me!
