I’m writing to express my interest in the Entry Level position for Software Engineer. I am majoring in Computer Science.

Previous studies in undergraduate have cultivated my ability on Java Programming. I am also a good leader and supporter. I know how to communicate with team members and customers effectively, and usually have a deeper sense of their need. I have a great deal of software development experience. When I worked as an intern in Neusoft for 2 months, I led a team of 8 members to build an online train ticket booking website. We used struts2 framework to do backend service and employed html/css, js, Ajax, jQuery to realize the visual display, jdbc was used to connected to Oracle database. Besides Oracle, I also used MySQL and SQL Server, I am good at operating databases, I worked in a team to finish a kernel. In addition, I am familiar with Linux, I did some network programming on Linux. I also have some experience on test procedure such as unit testing, black testing, white testing and so on.

I humbly believe that my past experience in Siemens, my undergraduate thesis, and my current practice in NASA’s big data analysis has cultivated my skills in Data analysis and machine learning. During my past intern in Siemens for half a year, I developed a demo for a website that helps the local government regulate taxicabs. I constructed OD matrixes and navigated through DBSCAN cluster analysis algorithm. I also Converted the data accumulated by GPS into points on the physical traffic system through Map-matching algorithm, and matched them with the data from OpenStreetMap. As my experience grew, I challenged myself to explore open-source big data analysis. In my current project with Professor Chris Mattmann, I used Apache Tika, Solr, Lucene to identify files, extract text, metadata from NASA’s data, did analysis on them and visualized the results by D3. I am doing a MapReduce Project to get the recommendation list of Netflix now.

My passion for IT industry and my past experience make me a qualified candidate and my communication skills and strong sense of responsibility will guarantee a good fulfillment of the role as a Software Engineer. I humbly believe that I will be a valuable asset to your team.
