Sample cover letter for Internship position at citi
Summer analyst
I am writing to express my interest in Citi’s Sales & Trading Summer Analyst Internship program in research. I appreciate your kind consideration for this internship application.
I am currently a second year student pursuing a degree in Economics at the University of Bath. I believe I have strong academic foundation required to pursue a career in research especially research in fixed income or market. As an economics student, I have an upper hand compared to the others because I have more knowledge on the fundamental of Central Banks and Monetary Policy and the macroeconomics. I also have an eye opener on how the financial industry work during this summer when I had my internship at RHB Investment Bank in the department of finance. This internship not just improved my IT skills significantly, especially in Excel and Oracle Database, but also improved my communication and teamwork with group members.
I was inspired by a presentation led by Iain Armitage. He explained the great culture in Citi and I am inspired by Citi long lasting foundation since 1812. By talking to the other members of Citi that night it makes me feel that Citi has a healthy competitiveness in it rather than an overly aggressive ones. Being a guy that likes to travel, Citi is the real global bank that has amazing number of trade floors in different countries which enhance the chance for me to work at other countries.
During my summer internship, I realized that I prefer working in roles that involve diverse activities instead of repetitive activities. I was inspired by my father and have a strong interest in markets. I observed how my father trades stocks daily and was really impressed how he became so successful even without an educational background. (My strong curiosity on the market drives me to do researching for a living.)
I am looking forward to this opportunity and hope that you will find me a good fit in Citi. I really appreciate the opportunity to interview with Citi.
Regards,
Khai Jian
