I am studying in my second year at The university of Glasgow, major in Economics. Different to other applicant, my foundation year give me more chance to develop my analytical skill through more assignments and group presentation, such as analysis of OECD financial market. After progressed to Second year, I also finished several group assignments, specifying in basic analysis of market value and investment decision of Retail industry. Furthermore, I take several finance- related modules on Coursera for further learning of numerical analyzing approaches. Through the information posted in our club, I learn about the spring insight work experience programme. I am in extremely interested in this programmed as a starting line to develop my career goal.

My interest of working in bank area is based on the several activities. I joined in the Adam Smith Economic society and other Trade and investment clubs. We had several mock case studies and investment division activities. We analyzed the data related to the current issues as a group, such as the impact of rising interest rate and collapse of Chinese financial market. I really enjoyed these activities because it provide me a chance to apply the technical approaches and software to analyze finance market activities. It gave me lots of experiences to practice working as a financial analyst without risk of losing money.

For further inspiration, I joined the FIFC conference. I found other members and formed a little group in mock fund-raising competition and mock presentation to attract other to invest us. I gave one innovative idea which connect the internet service to individual navigation system. I was also assigned to put the idea into operation, so I planned the potential suppliers and general production plan. I also joined one insight day at small firm to develop my understanding in finance and risk management area through their mock activities. It provide me future direction of developing necessary skills to perform well in banking area.

After the experience in several exploring-oriented event, I participated in GPMP leadership academy as team leader. I managed the team and summary the related materials for our presentation, which gained good feedback from other groups. These experiences gave me precious experience that help me develop necessary soft skills in future career. I am eager to learn more and practice in real company, so I am interested in this programme for further developing these necessary skills.

The reason why I want to apply Citigroup spring as a start for my career is the opportunity of future learning and business culture. Citigroup always put the ever-stopping development and learning as first priority, so that I can explore and develop myself in professional training seminars. For students in their early stage in university, I can enhance core technical and soft skills through intense training programme in different business sectors. Secondly, the office culture of Citigroup is always open and change-accepted. During insight of different business sectors, I can discover which area is most inspiring , innovating and competitive and decide which sector could be most appropriate career goal. Assuring the professional area makes me more contributive in future working. Also, I can be more innovative in problem solving in this risk-free environment. Finally is the supportive and constructive competitive culture in Citigroup, which differentiate Citigroup from other bank. Everyone is willing to help you, and these help, such as practical tips, could be critical in early stage of career for building cornerstone of success. I am able to networking and ask any question to the colleagues, even to the manager. Exploring finance area and cultivate working experience within this supportive office culture can let us to achieve our potential.
