As a graduate student studying applied statistics at University, I am interested in the Data Specialist position because I’m convinced that it’s a perfect combination of quantitative analysis and database management with my personal background and interest.

My education and work experience make me a strong candidate for the position. My coursework in statistics and mathematics have taught me how to analyze information effectively and systematically and apply appropriate statistical model to the analysis. For this school year, I’ve completed two statistical consulting projects on chemotherapy study and food supply program with my group partners. We help our clients figure out the government policy influence and their business potentials.

I completed several analytical internships in Insurance Groups and research lab. During the past summer, I interned at Merchants Insurance Group in the Buffalo main office. I developed electronic data forms using SQL/VBA programming and generated analysis reports for personal and auto line insurance products using statistical software like SAS and R. In addition, I worked closely with colleagues from other departments and had the chance to get involved in the project in other departments like actuarial department. I am confident my experience derived from internships and projects and my demonstrated commitment to hard work and problem-solving will provide an immediate benefit to your company.
