I attended the Deloitte information session at UBC on Jan 14th, and I became very interested in the role of Business Technology Analyst in your consulting sector. I believe my technical skills, requirement elicitation and analysis experience and previous product management skill make me an excellent candidate for this position.

I have worked in various positions in the telecom and software industries within Alcatel-Lucent and SAP. I started my co-op as a software tester performing automation tests as well as writing test cases. The experience gave me a better understanding of the software development life cycle, and overall system. To broaden my knowledge, I worked as a software developer at Alcatel-Lucent where I gained hands on experience with Java internal tool development. Later, in the same company, I started developing graphical reporting website for senior management by gathering requirement from various mangers and adding new feature enhancement accordingly.

Then, I worked at SAP Vancouver office as an associate product manager. I researched, specified, prioritized, and documented accessibility requirements for SAP Business Intelligence software such as BI Launch Pad, Crystal Reports, Web Intelligence and Lumira. I derived technical solutions from web standard and government requirements, and successfully delivered requirements to development backlog. In addition, I analyzed clients’ accessibility inquiries on products and product related issues, researched competitor’s solutions, developed a habit of documenting detailed user experience notes whenever noticing any potential bugs or solutions for the product, ensuring the products are gradually approaching compliance with web standard. This experience allowed me to gain critical requirement analysis skill, at the same time, it made me an expert on SAP BI softwares.

Last but not least, I have a keen interest in the business perspectives behind the technological solutions. I will be getting my business minor in UBC Sauder in May. While taking commerce courses, I was inspired by the successful examples of some firms’ strategic management. I know the successes always come with a integrated ERP system, so top managers have comprehensive data to make the correct decision. I am very interested in solving business problems and design better ERP solutions.

I believe my technical skill together with my enthusiasm about technology will make me a good fit in Deloitte. I look forward to hearing from you.
