Dear Lucasfilm,

I am currently second year student pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Communication. Because I am interested in a career in marketing and public relations, I am applying for the publicity internship. I believe I am fit for this position as I have strong communication skills that enable me to work well with others as well as the passion for promotion and work ethic to take initiative.

I have gained many skills in the field of marketing and publicity through my work experiences both on the UC Santa Barbara campus and within the local Bay Area. Within the UCSB community, I have primarily been involved as the Publicity Coordinator for both COSWB (Commission on Student Wellbeing) and AfterDark, a program that plans events for students searching for an alternative to the local party scene. Both positions have required me to heavily utilize social media to advertise functions to students. I have also gained a vast amount of marketing knowledge as a media intern with Oakland Pride, writing press releases, planning promotional events, and coordinating a media team for the annual festival. Through this internship, I worked with various media outlets and local companies to sponsor and cover our event and efforts to construct a resource center for LGBT youth in Oakland. All these experiences have strengthened my communication skills and work ethic as I had to balance multiple projects while simultaneously pursuing a degree. I am interested in working at Lucasfilm because I would cherish the opportunity to learn from such respected professionals in a challenging and unique industry.
