After having obtained my master degree in Industrial Biotechnologies at the University of Pavia (Italy), I have worked in the biochemical and biomolecular research fields at the Radboub University Medical Centre in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. During the past seven years, I worked as Phd student and postdoc at the department of laboratory medicine-Laboratory of hematology in the group of Prof. Dr. XXXXX. In early days, under the guidance of Dr. YYYYY (Phd), my research has varied between molecular and clinical aspects of diseased hematopoiesis, with a focus on the identification and characterization of molecular aberrations underlying specific hematopoietic disorders, such as acute myeloid leukemia and hereditary thrombocytopenias. During the last two years, my focus has shifted to the development and optimization of a xenograft murine model applied to study the role of the bone marrow microenvironment in the myeloid dysplastic syndromes, under the supervision of Dr. ZZZZZ (MD, PhD). Although I am very proud of my past as a researcher in academia, I feel it is time to give a new direction to my career and move forward to industry. As I am flexible with changes, quick learner and I have strong motivation for continuous self-improvement, I resolutely believe that leaping to the private sector, in such an ambitious and enterprising company as Editas Medicine, would represent an excellent opportunity to further broaden my multidisciplinary orientation and definitely widen my stock of knowledge.
I have large laboratory experience that allowed me to become acquainted with primary mammalian cell isolation and culture and a vast array of techniques that are regularly used in molecular biology, closely linking to the position as advertised. I have analytical skills required for dissemination of scientific knowledge, including critical discussion, proposal for new ideas, and good writing and reporting skills which have resulted in several scientific publications in internationally renowned journals. As you can see in the enclosed CV, I have worked with various established scientists and have had the chance to build up a fine and considerably large network of contacts, primarily in academic setting. Although I am capable to work independently, I particularly enjoy working in a team and collaborating with people from different backgrounds, from whom I quickly learn and enrich my knowledge. Due to my communication and social skills, my colleagues recognize me as a creative and enthusiastic team-player that easily accustom with new projects. Furthermore, the opportunity to have led and directed multidisciplinary teams have nurtured my capacity to manage time and understand the importance of delegating tasks and recognize the optimal utilization of each project member.
