I have had previous experience of being an investment banker in the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China. My internship provided me a great opportunity to experience the workplace involved in becoming an investment banker. Over the course of my stay, I sold 50 different investment products and this lead to an increase of customer profit by average 15%, during this experience I was able to improve me on the job experience and this gave me a suitable background to lead on to a further aspiration of reaching my dream role of becoming an investment banker. In addition to this, I was able to enhance and improve many of my skills that will be useful in many different careers, for example I was able to improve my communication and presentation skills, research skills, analytical skills, and adapt all of this to different customer needs and requirements to offer them the best possible portfolio. This I believe is what every investor should be. From the experience, I have gained banking knowledge is something in which I am starting to professionalise myself in. Lazard will provide me the opportunity to gain further knowledge. This will allow me the opportunity to contribute more to the company in which I can help achieve profitability and sustainable growth.

Lazard and its proposed business model has attracted me for a long time, providing market leading advice on mergers, acquisitions, capital raising and many more throughout many decades. This summer internship will provide me with valuable experience and gives me a chance to further develop my skills and focus on my abilities. Working on many client projects provides the opportunity to analyse and present data to different clients. I am very keen to represent my skills in a more professional yet valuable way. Working with Lazard will provide me a great challenge to furthermore develop my understanding and insights to investment banking in which I already have experience in. As a Mathematics with Economics student, I have well developed my analytical and thinking skills by doing Analysis and Algebra modules. I have also improved my numerical skills by studying Methods and Probability with Statistics modules in this degree in which I am currently a second year student. Also, from my previous experience, I have gained great communication and team working skills. I have also developed my ability to work under pressure and ability to pay attention to detail. I also like to describe myself as a hardworking and creative individual. Lazard, will definitely benefit from all my qualities and experiences. I will therefore be a keen investment for Lazard to enhance and improve the reputation and operations of the company.
