Sample cover letter for Full Time position at flowserve
Application engineer
With this hereby letter, I would like to express my motivation for the Master Integrated Architectural
Design (MIAD) with specialization in Facade Design.
Having grown up in a family of engineers surely exposed me to the construction field at a very early
stage in life. My passion for construction drove me to pursue a Degree and led me to tailor my work experience beyond the parameters of my studies.
Several internships have allowed me to gain very fruitful and indispensable experiences. I was the site
engineer with Houeiss Group managing a team of 10 workers on site and did a summer internship with where I worked as a structural engineer designing 2 projects
and consulting on another one. These experiences allowed me to have hands-on experience in the
construction field.
responsible for all the coordination between the different trades on site. I covered the interior apartment’s
package and the Core & Shell package which specifically included the building skin comprising of Zinc
cladding, photovoltaic panels, curved steel structure and more... This experience has been extremely
enriching as it opened many new doors for me in construction and confirmed my aspirations to specialize
in Façade engineering. At the same time, it helped me master the different sides of the construction
industry and consolidate my time management and social skills.
To further master my passion , I recently enrolled (still ongoing) in a 6months “Proficiency in Façade
Engineering” course, which is not only enhancing my knowledge and technical skills within the field, but
also increasing my awareness on the importance of this specialization.
Being brought up in a developing country suffering from lack of efficiency and sustainability in all kinds
of fields (energy, water, construction, architecture etc…), naturally dictated my upbringing and my will to
contribute to the development of the construction field; Hence my interest in Façade Engineering. The
latter adds to the lifespan of the building. Sustainability being a key issue in today’s construction industry
especially with the constant need to build better, more efficient and safer building envelopes.
Having said all that, I believe that the teaching facilities and unique varied prospects offered by the MIAD
masters with specialization Facade design will enable in-depth design skills and greatly enhance my
understanding of the field with the objective of shaping my future career in the Façade world and take
part in the expansion and development of the construction industry.
