As a June 2013 Bachelor’s graduate from UC San Diego in Biochemistry and Cell Biology, I am motivated to apply over two years of academic and industry lab experience, multi-disciplinary studies and strong critical-thinking abilities. I am confident my research background and technical expertise is the perfect match for the challenging role in new process development at Genentech.

Currently at (biotech company), I conduct research in the development of flow cytometry antibodies. As an entry-level associate, my immunology expertise significantly expanded as I enjoyed the challenge of learning the complexities of antibody interaction and immune responses. My work ethic and critical thinking skills have been my strengths for my new projects in antibody discovery and development. The industry experience has prepared me for management of fast-paced projects, strong communication in collaborative environments, and problem-solving in high-priority projects.

At the (academic) lab, I was involved in research on signaling in plants. I gained excellent lab and project planning experience. With my initiative, my general lab assistant position evolved into an active role in the research process. For five months, I was entrusted with responsibility for experiments on hormone responses in ----. The experience honed my individual management of responsibilities, attention to detail, and data interpretation.

The PRDP program would be a truly rewarding and educational insight into the technical development of groundbreaking biotechnology. I believe my skills would allow me to seamlessly transition into the fast-paced and creative culture at Genentech and am eagerly looking forward to discussing the position further with you.
