Please see my application for the Operations analyst program based in Edinburgh. I feel my skills and abilities closely match the skills required to build a successful career in operations.

I am currently a managing director and partner for a construction company based in Scotland. Prior to this I was a graduate drilling engineer for UK’s largest onshore operator before being made redundant. My experience working as an engineer has developed my teamwork and communicational skills through successful dealings with management and stakeholders. I worked closely with stakeholders and management, compiling reports and working collaboratively in designing effective and cost efficient drilling programs. I believe my leverage in these areas coupled my analytical, problem solving and technical skills will allow me to make a significant positive contribution as an operations analyst.

Additionally, my experience working as a managing director in a demanding environment has developed my organisational and interpersonal skills through successful customer dealings. Moreover, I have learned how to deal with challenging clients and thrive in a fast paced and high-pressured environment. Furthermore, I was a head volunteer at Glasgow Gurdwara charity during the opening ceremony of the newly built £13,000,000 Temple. My role involved strategically organising the event to accommodate for approximately 10,000 members of the Sikh community as well as high ranking politicians including Nicola Sturgeon. As a result of my creative ideas and strategic decisions the charity raised an extra £8,000 on the opening day in addition to successfully providing a free hot meal to approximately 5000 visitors. This experience proves my ability to work in a team, whilst leading other committee members demonstrates my commitment and leadership skills that are essential to succeed in a rapidly changing environment of the financial markets.

My motivation to apply to JP Morgan arises due to its outstanding global reputation and its commitment to developing talent that will be instrumental in shaping my personal development. I am further impressed by JP Morgan’s employees at Edinburgh who are currently involved in a two-year volunteering project where they are transforming the garden at Scottish War Blinded's Linburn Centre in West Lothian. This highlights the firm's commitment to engage and give back to the community in an entrepreneurial nature by increasing revenue for charities. I believe my skills and motivation make me an excellent candidate for the graduate program. Furthermore, my values and interest for volunteering are closely aligned with the firm’s culture, working together to make a difference.
