Sample cover letter for Internship position at jp morgan

POSITION:

summer analyst

I am currently a first year undergraduate at the London School of Economics and Political Science, pursuing a BSc in Business Mathematics and Statistics. I would like to apply for 2016 Investment Management Summer Analyst Programme which I saw advertised on Morgan Stanley careers website.

As you can see from my enclosed CV, I have obtained 620 UCAS points in my A-Levels study and received gold awards in UKMT Senior Maths Challenge for two consecutive years. My strong academic records especially in Mathematics demonstrate my strong learning ability and analytical skill, which could be widely applied in the course of this program. During my work experience in China CITIC Bank where I assisted the commercial loan department, I helped to collect clients’ financial reports and input the data to its computer system from which I learned to be meticulous and rigorous in my work. By working along with other interns and professionals I tried to examine companies’ financial statements and make some general analysis about the future prospects of their corresponding industry, which have developed my skills in working in a team and communicating well with others as well as in researching a topic, making presentations, writing reports and analysing data.

I am particularly intrigued to the program because it provides experience in three ways, which I think would be invaluable for me. First of all, through the insight I have the chance to learn of Morgan Stanley’s culture and watch how a leading investment bank operates which would help me have a better understanding of the financial industry. Secondly, it provides an overview of a number of divisions including Investment Banking, Global Capital Markets, Sales & Trading, Research and Real Estate Investing. This offers me a great opportunity to get a real taste in different area so that I would be able to know which field I would be particularly interested in and have a passion to work for. Thirdly, by working along with a great number of respected professionals and fantastic colleagues in Morgan Stanley, it would give a base to my professional network. And I personally would learn much from their experiences and personalities.

I am very excited about this opportunity and do believe this could bring me a bright future in my career. I would dearly like to discuss my application with you in greater detail. Thank you for your time and consideration and look forward to hearing from you soon.
