From my investment banking module during my Masters, and from my own personal research, I understand that the workings of investment banking is central to influences on markets. I am intrigued by how investment banking is so important globally, and inspired by the continuing challenge of contributing to the success of a division and a bank, who’s dealings affect not just the industry, but the world. Furthermore, I’m very eager to be surrounded by intelligent and talented people, who will enable me to progress in what is a challenging career. I cannot imagine a better bank that will give me that platform, other than the best investment bank on the planet.
I aspire to learn more from key figures such as the amazing Bronwyn Curtis OBE. Her story is one that I have followed, and it would be an honour to learn from the non-executive director if accepted. While completing my two degrees, I was a member of many societies. I was a co-captain as well as an assistant to the Treasury during my 4 years playing for Queen Mary University of London football club. The former resulted in the development of communication, leadership and team working skills, while the latter resulted in the effective managing of the budget to pay for expenses for over 100 members. This allowed me to take initiative, contribute to a group, and be organised. Moreover, I was also a member of the Queen Mary University Investment Fund, working in a group to share the role of analyst and risk assessor, in researching and pitching and investment strategy. This further developed communication skills and team-working skills, as we all had to agree in order to pitch effectively, as well as analytical and research skills that I believe are key for succeeding at JP Morgan.
