Sample cover letter for Internship position at morgan stanley

POSITION:

analyst

Dear Graduate Recruitment,

I am a second year undergraduate at the XXXXXXX reading BSc in X. I am interested in the Summer Analyst program in the IBD division at Morgan Stanley. I was recently introduced to your firm via XXXX from IBD.

I am particularly interested in this programme with Morgan Stanley because of the high reputation of your Summer Analyst programme, and your commitment to giving interns early responsibility. Having attended the finals of the XXXXXX, I got the opportunity to hear first-hand from XXXXXX (IBD) who was one of the judges, about his experiences in the company. I was impressed by his enthusiasm which he conveyed and the work culture of the company.

Investment Banking is ideal, as it combines all of my interest and skills acquired over the past. Having completed my Financial Advisory Services internship in Deloitte Malaysia, I worked with a team of analysts, in which, I contributed in researching, producing industrial reports, and analyzing financial statements to build a client’s proposal. In addition, I was exposed to financial modelling, and found it exciting being able to value a firm based on its future free cash flows and its peers. I am very keen on obtaining further exposure to the dealings and transactions of Morgan Stanley’s clients. I have learnt that finance is the heart of any business, hence, I feel that the Investment Banking division is the best platform to learn more about companies and industries of different capital structures and how to offer solutions to their problems.

I consider myself to be a well-rounded individual that strives within a team environment. I am able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with a steep learning curve. As the leader of the UIBS M&A Challenge team, I delegated tasks accordingly to my team members, I was involved in the pitching process, consolidation of the overall pitch-book, and building of financial models which included a DCF and Merger Model. Through this, I improved my time management skills and leadership skills as well as developed essential public speaking skills. Additionally, my outstanding academic achievements are an indication of my determination and enthusiasm for learning.

Thank you for considering me for the Summer Analyst Programme and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

XXXXXXXX
