I believe that the experiences I possess directly align with the qualifications needed for this internship. In my first semester of college, I took a course called “The Computers of Business” that taught the advanced concepts involved in Microsoft Access and Excel. Not only am I very well-skilled in both of these applications, I can also finish long assignments within these application in an extremely timely manner. Since my exams were always timed, I had to learn a variety of shortcuts and tricks in order to finish them within the allotted amount of time. As a student of the Kelley School of Business, there is an emphasis on effectively and efficiently solving problems using an analytical approach. In October, I participated in an ALDI case competition that focused on breaking apart each aspect of the company in order to increase their profit margin. From working on this case competition, I started developing the necessary skills needed for effective data analyzation and problem solving. In addition, I thrive in environments where I am constantly thinking and using my interpersonal skills to solve problems and network. From working as an assistant to a social coach at a center for children with social challenges, I was constantly in situations where I needed to solve a problem in a quick and concise manner. If a child was having a breakdown from an anxiety attack or from their sensory issues, I was always expected to calmly and effectively approach the situation with an achievable solution that not only benefited the child, but the well being of the people around the child. Additionally, I was also able to become a private social skills mentor for a teenage girl by using my interpersonal skills to consistently communicate with her parents after her session was over.
