Dear Rioters:
When I did the research over my summer internships, I found out that the internship position of game design is recruiting on the Riot game website, my intuition tells me “This is it, do not miss this chance.” As an experienced game player with diverse background, working in a passionate and professional gaming company is always my dream I would like to go after.
There are several traits that differentiate me from other candidates. My critical thinking, analyze skills and gaming experience could definitely contribute to Riot. With my exceptional game knowledge and experience, as well as my unique skills (link to my sample of the League of Legends essay: https://www.scribd.com/doc/300877174/League-Writing-Sample), I could definitely contribute to Riot culture and community.
My critical thinking is developed during my game playing and academic experience. When I play games, I would always think about the defections and the design of the game. Whenever a new champion comes out in League of Legends, my friend and I will solo in lanes and discuss the skill design of that champion as well as how to master it. As a programmer, the critical thinking is always with me when I write my code, programs need to be critiqued in every way to discover bugs. On another hand, analyze skill comes with my interest business related internships and my economic major, I deal with statistics all the time. My experiences and academic background constantly help me build sense of numbers and the eager for those facts behind the numbers, which also influences my game playing behaviors. I unconsciously calculate damage whenever I play league of legends. I could do plays with my analysis and I am willing to try it all the time. Most importantly, I have been playing games for 15 years. As an expertise in gaming, I find my passion in League of Legends. Besides of normal game play, I have been following professional league matches like LPL, LCS and LCK, watch and analyze the players’ performances since Season three. Knowing every aspect of the games have always helped me throughout my game play.
Riot game is always my dream company to work in. As for me, nothing is better than contributing to my favorite game with my abilities. Since I started to play League of Legends in Season three, I have witnessed Riot’s growth. The growth of player community and e-sports have pushed League of Legends to a height that it has never reached before. To me, taking play serious, player-centered atmosphere and team-focused are the most impressive “Riot manifesto.” Start from a small company, Riot has built connections among players, inspiring new ideas, help e-sports players realize their dreams with League of Legend. That is also what I would like to learn as a gamer. I would love to participate in such enthusiasm.
Given the critical thinking, analysis skills and experiences of gaming that I have discussed, I believe that I would be an excellent candidate for this internship position. I look forward to learn more about Riot! Thank you guys for the time and consideration.
