Sample cover letter for Full Time position at uber

POSITION:

global business analyst

Dear Global Business Analyst Hiring Manager,

I have recently graduated from London School of Economics, a top British university, with a degree in Economics and Business. I moved to San Francisco in order to pursue my career in the field of business analysis, and I write to apply for the position of a Global Business Analyst on Uber’s PRO team. I am drawn by the idea of telling people I work for Uber, and soon after making them realize I drive the whole company forward, and not just the cab.

The quantitative focus of my degree prepared me well to excel during my placement at Airbus, and while working part-time for a London-based startup, SupplHi. At Airbus, I spent 12 months as one of the only two selected interns within the Business Operations team. Involved in the process of strategic planning and the allocation of resources, the work revolved heavily around Excel (including pivot tables and macros) and included the analysis of historical figures and estimation of future trends and values, preparing me well for the position of a Global Business Analyst at Uber. Working closely with the top management, I was responsible for the preparation and presentation of weekly reports to chief engineers of the A380 program, which required exceptional communication skills, and ability to present information clearly.

Working part-time at SupplHi demanded strong organization skills, as I had to compromise two days per week of challenging consulting-type analysis with my final-year responsibilities, including my thesis. While performing market analysis of the Asian EPC contractors or the fertilizer industry, I had to sift through large amounts of, often problematic to find, financial data. Working in a fast-paced, startup environment required ultimate Excel proficiency, which challenged me to learn a number of time-saving tricks and advanced functions. Although I consider myself to be fluent in Excel, I am aware of the scope for improvement, and I am motivated to develop this skill further.

This summer, eager to learn the basics of data analytics, I completed an SQL online course. I was fascinated by the opportunities it provides for turning high volumes of data into meaningful business information, and is an element I undeniably look forward to in the work of a Global Business Analyst at Uber.

I am driven by the concept of working for a firm whose impact is seen in an extraordinarily tangible way across the world. Moving over from the United Kingdom, I am excited about stepping outside of my comfort zone, while working for a fast-paced startup company. On top of that, the perks of flexible, unlimited vacation policy and free monthly Uber credits further made up my mind regarding the decision to apply. I would appreciate the opportunity to be interviewed to prove my capabilities.

Sincerely,
XXX
