All through my life time, it has being my utmost desire to contribute meaningfully in the lives of people especially those overwhelmed with life challenges and distress. This informed my choice of career in studying Psychology even to advanced level.
My professional training has exposed me to advanced skills needed in rendering psychological services to clients such as behaviour modification techniques, psychotherapeutic techniques, psycho-educational/counselling skills, empathy, confidentiality and treatment planning. Other skills include personality assessment of client using MMPI-2, MMPI-A and SCL-90; IQ assessment using WAIS-III, WISC-IV, Vineland Adaptive Behaviour Scale II, Draw – A - Person Test; and clinical report writing. I am also very proficient in computer operation especially in the areas of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Application, Graphic Design, picture editing among other.
Considering the magnitude of, and the urgent need to respond to the maternal, newborn and child health challenges globally, I am inspired to join in the advocacy and health information campaign aimed at minimising the global maternal, newborn and child mortality rates. The situation is even worse in Africa as the 2016 report of the “Wellbeing Foundation Africa” have shown that nearly half of all maternal deaths occur in Sub-Sahara Africa and one in every eight child will die before the age of 5. The sober truth is that with the right clinical and public health intervention and, critically, the right information, many of these deaths are preventable.
